Get to Know Me


Lloyd is an executive coach, organizational architect and certified personal fitness trainer.   He has  years of business experience in leading, managing and implementing strategy, large scale organizational change, mergers and acquisitions, business process re-engineering, workflow implementations and various other IT projects. He specializes in executive coaching, coaching executive teams, work based learning and stress management.  He has coached executives and executive teams in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, South Africa, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Ghana and Mauritius.

He was the first person in the world to qualify with a Professional Doctorate in Executive Coaching through Middlesex University and the National Centre for Work Based Learning in the United Kingdom.  For his doctoral thesis he developed and researched the Integrated Experiential Coaching Model, an experiential learning model that integrates strategy formulation and implementation in the context of managerial complexity. Based on his experience over the years he learnt that companies often cannot implement their formulated strategies as a result of badly designed organizational structures which are in conflict with the critical business processes.  More importantly, ineffective organizational structures often produce predictable behavioural patterns irrespective of the individuals involved. He believes that it is critical for a coach to be able to distinguish between individual and structural behaviours. His post-doctoral research interest is in how high levels of stress affect an executive’s heart rate variability, which in turn inhibits optimal cortical functioning.

He lectures at the Stellenbosch Graduate Schools of Business in Coaching and on their Executive Development Program.

Philos Performance evolved from Metenoia CC an executive coaching company with  the desire to facilitate optimal executive performance. Years of research and experience led to the development of the Integrated Experiential Coaching Model  and the realisation that learning and performance are greatly affected by what is happening in our bodies.
